10 Big Time Family Money Mistakes.

Welcome to Sexual Sundays!

For your consideration: 10 Big Time Family Money Mistakes.

Believe it or not, plenty of people need to be thinking of the following when dealing with money, relationships and family. Some of you people just don’t get it. Here we go:

  1. Not saving for college: Sure. Your kids will get loans. Sure. Your kids will get scholarships. And, if they don’t? Then what? That’s right. Google: 529 and recognize.
  2. Too many pets. Not enough income: How many times do we need to see families with 8 dogs and one $30k per year income. Give it a rest.
  3. Expensive sports: If your family makes $80k per year and you bought a $400k house, then maybe your kid should be playing basketball and NOT hockey.
  4. Tanning: Why is this a necessary cost ladies? You going dating with those 4 kids and a husband? OR better yet . . . Does your 12-year old daughter need to be tan all year round?
  5. Owning a huge SUV, when you have a wife and a newborn . . . and you’re a librarian: You got a reason for all that space, horsepower and fuel consumption?
  6. Trying to have it all: Alright, you’ve got your kids. You’ve got your house. You’ve got your $50k salary. Why are you now trying to run a bar and be a real estate agent and a landscaper all at the same time? Licenses and fuel cost money, in addition to your family, house, commute time, etc.
  7. Too many frivolities: Your kid is 2. He needs constant care. All you can think about, however, is getting a new pair of Powerisers (WTF are "Powerisers?"!!!) and a new jet ski. Do you have the cash to cover all of this?
  8. Not recognizing that family means tailoring expenses: If you were used to going to the bar 3 nights a week before getting married with children, get ready for a money change. That bar cash might be invested in better ways . . .
  9. Giving your adult children monthly allowances: Instead of questioning when you’ll HAVE to stop giving your 26-year old $500 per month, because she’s still struggling to make ends meet in the big bad world, try simply not enabling her anymore. Time to cut the cord.
  10. Not saving enough each month: This one is the family killer. Your heirs and legacy depend on the money you’re socking away now. Don’t forsake them for the niceties mistaken as necessities of today.

Good luck out there.
