For your consideration: Why Do We Pay So Much For Government? Scenario 2: 10.25%.

Well, that’s the sales tax you’re paying in Cook County, IL pretty soon. For those of you not from the Midwest, Cook County is the home of Chicago, IL.

Why Do We Pay So Much For Government?

So, Chicagoans are paying the highest sales tax of anyone in the country. What are they getting for this 10.25%?

We can tell you one thing:

In Chicago, you can find some of the crappiest public schools where they’ll pay for your teaching certificate if you agree to teach for two years in one of the crappy schools in the crappiest public school system in Illinois. Good luck.

You’re already paying some high property taxes in Cook County. Look up the salaries of your Cook County administrators too. Look at the high school graduation rates of students in the county. Look at per capita income.

Ask yourself:

Why Do We Pay So Much For Government?

Why are Chicago and Cook County so damn great that people there need to pay the highest sales tax in the country just for the privilege of living on the boarders of Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan?

The Money Kings strongly recommend that you people of Cook County vote your politicians out of office. You got no ocean. You got no mountain views. You got no Broadway. What do you have? Bars in Wrigleyville?

Come on.

Good luck out there.

  2. Contracts to govern. officials’ kids and friends, for starters . . .
