For your consideration: Indiana Starts Patrolling With Unmarked Ford Mustangs. Wow.

You know what? This post is going to be short today. Why? Because we don’t know what to say about this . . . Or let us rephrase, we’re trying to figure out what is the appropriate way to address this issue.

On the one hand, we’re glad that Indiana State Police will be using unmarked Ford Mustangs to patrol speeders on state highways.

On the other hand we feel like saying:

Duh . . .

No disrepect, ISP. We see the Mustangs as a good MoneyKings move. We’re just wondering why ALL other states A) haven’t adopted this technique, and B) it’s taken Indiana so long to realize that it’s easier to catch speeders if you’re X) driving a really fast car yourself (even though police cruisers are pretty damn fast), and Y) if you’re NOT driving a squad.

Now, we realize that squads have ramming power–this is essential as any viewer of COPS will attest. Maybe the best way enforce speed laws is to team up Camaro with a squad in order to efficiently catch speeders.

Coming off this holiday weekend where we witnessed no fewer than 12 individuals pulled over for speeding between St. Louis, MO and Chicago, IL, we got to thinking about how police can more effectively use vehicles to slow everyone down and ticket those that just insist on breaking speed limits. THEN, the Indiana story broke and we just thought: “It’s about time.”

Maybe we’re crazy. You’ll let us know. We care about you folks, so . . .

Drive safely out there.

  1. A lot of places already do this. In fact, many places impound cars that are caught street racing (after 3 strikes) and then give them to police officers. So there are cops driving around in supped up, really fast cars. Btw, I think regular squad cars are faster than mustangs unless they are gt or cobra.
