2008 Florida Primary, National Catastrophe Fund and Thoughts for the Future of Making And Saving Your Money.
For your consideration: 2008 Florida Primary, National Catastrophe Fund and Thoughts for the Future of Making And Saving Your Money.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the following US Presidential candidates support the creation of a “National Catastrophe Fund”. A fund like this would ideally help Americans living in states like Florida where hurricanes and floods wreck havoc on property:
1. Giuliani
2. Obama
3. Clinton
Notice something strange here? We don’t think you should. Time to go to school: When considering your money and American politics, things are never quite as they seem. Assuredly, a “National Catastrophe Fund” will require just that—more funds. Either higher taxes for all Americans or re-appropriated funds from other programs will ensue if the project moves forward.
McCain wants to strengthen FEMA instead of create more levels of bureaucracy. Romney wants to create a disaster pool of money gathered by states with higher likelihoods of facing natural disaster. Under this plan, people in Illinois wouldn’t be “taxed” for a fund that will help more Floridians or Alabamans.
Florida folks probably think this issue is a no-brainer. The fund is a good thing. When you consider the fact that an event like Hurricane Katrina really effected all Americans as well as Louisianans, this issue becomes one where we all might have to suck up extra taxes for a greater benefit in the future. It’s for you to research and decide. Regardless, everyone seems to need better piece of mind when disaster rears its ugly head. We, at The Money Kings, keep you aware. Greater awareness gives us all greater rule of our money!
Rule on.
